Abstract

This study examines how Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiatives operate as an empirical catalyst for socio-economic reintegration and livelihood transitions in Left-Wing Extremism (LWE) affected, underdeveloped rural regions, specifically focusing on Gadchiroli District, Maharashtra. Utilizing a mixed-methods empirical framework, the paper evaluates the multi-sectoral interventions of Lloyds Infinite Foundation (LIF) and Lloyds Metals and Energy Limited (LMEL) spanning healthcare, education, sustainable livelihoods, infrastructure, and peace-building rehabilitation. Primary field survey observations and structured interviews are triangulated with longitudinal corporate disclosures (FY 2023–24 to FY 2026–27) alongside regional socio-economic metrics. Findings reveal an exponential surge in CSR capital deployment, from ₹66.55 Crore in FY 2023–24 to ₹410 Crore in FY 2026–27 (a CAGR of 83.33%), which directly correlates with massive scaling in beneficiary throughput across health (2,76,290 hospital patients), education (2,300 students in CBSE formal schooling), and rural infrastructure. Crucially, the institutional inclusion of 87 surrendered ex-combatants into formal industrial employment, backed by ₹1.6 Crore in Employee Stock Ownership Plans (ESOPs) and dedicated housing at Navjeevan Vasahat, demonstrates a structural shift from conflict-based subsistence to formal capital ownership and social reintegration. The study establishes that localized, high-density CSR investments reduce regional income inequality (shifting the Lorenz curve inward), construct sustainable human capital, and replace insurgency cycles with institutionalized economic stability.
